Excellent still not had time to play but, I like the use of Self Modifying BASIC - very Spectrum and 8Bit world....

Welcome to the community and it should not be a dream to get the networking going - there are a few people playing with the facilities and all the help we can get is welcome. I am currently working on the BASIC driver again so we should have more support soon.

Indeed all welcome here - I have a few C64's myself as well. Each have their strengths. You will not be disappointed with the Next it is just so well built and cute it really evokes the excitement of receiving a Sinclair computer.

The NextPI has a UART interface that runs at 115Kbs but, in theory could go higher. The old interface as you say tried to bus monitor signals but, relied on a bare metal bit of code as obviously a non real time OS like DietPI cannot keep up - in fact he bare metal barely did and certainly not at the...

It is not an impossible idea and has been discussed several times. However, the DietPI implementation for the Next (NextPI) was hard labour for a single person (D) that had to fit into only a 1Gb card and boot fast enough to work to act as a co-processor and not corrupt when powered off at random so...
