Re: DAAD Adventure Writer and ZX Next

The clipping approach has an issue: if the game have some rooms without picture, then the whole screen is used for text, and my code won't be called so I cannot remove the clipping area in ULA layer, what would lead to see half screen in black. So you can't clip the ula below the layer 2 area when ...

Re: DAAD Adventure Writer and ZX Next

You can't disable transparency but you can do something else. I see that there is nothing behind either layer 2 or the ula. So you could do something like make the transparent colour black and then make the fallback colour black as well. If nothing puts a pixel someplace (maybe all layers are clippe...

Re: DAAD Adventure Writer and ZX Next

Can't even recall how long ago that was, I think the cards have now something like 2.00.12 +- ... But I recall "it was the last time, there's no more budget for another rewrite" ... I can't remember when that was either, maybe when the pcbs were first made and some tests were done? There has been a...

Re: DAAD Adventure Writer and ZX Next

About transparency, I'll let the user (the writer) choose wether to use it or not. If he doesn't know how to create a file with transparency or he just doesn't want to, I will make sure the transparency register has a value different from last palette entry. You will probably want to reserve one 8-...

Re: DAAD Adventure Writer and ZX Next

The standard esxdos api is a subset of the esx-compatible api in nextzxos so you will be able to make the same calls to load data and whatnot from sd card. The most immediately noticeable difference is that nextzxos will accept long filenames. Nextzxos's esxdos api is documented here: https://gitlab...

Re: Some news

C64 you are zxjoe right? There is a rot in a small portion of the zx community that is driven by hate & jealousy. There is some of it on display in public and even here in this forum - you just have to look up some of BlackCat's post to see it. He has little knowledge of the zx next project but it d...

(sigh) Questions about the current status are answered constantly by team members. I just gave you an answer a little further up.

Re: Some news

Facebook is pretty crappy about intermittently hiding public groups to try to get you to sign up but yes there is more in-between news on facebook. The wait is still on from the case & kbd manufacturers. The tooling is being made and a test manufacturer of a small batch to verify the manufacturing l...

Re: Cores not listed in the FAQ you would like to see on Next

But the AGA Amigas had a minimum of 2Mb RAM. Since a lot of the memory of the NEXT seems to be reserved for "stuff", will it be possible to get 2Mb RAM usable for this? Or is the RAM reserved for "stuff" only NEXT related and not necessarily the same for other cores? Any core would assign sram use ...

Re: Is it possible to create a "Next" in a ZX-UNO like board?

The fpga on the uno is too small for a next core. However the zx dos is using the same size fpga. You will lose some things like pi, exp bus, etc, and I think the sram on the dos is only 512k which is really too small (it should be at least 1MB like the minimum zx next spec). So maybe it's still not...
