Re: How much longer?

Watching the ZX Spectrum Next project is both funny and sad for me. It is funny because everything that the authors of the project are trying to invent, many years ago made by Russian, while at a much higher professional level. Most Russian development has involved trivial improvements on the origi...

Re: Wireless joystick adapter for NEXT

What joystick pins are used? I see pins 3,4,6 on top. The next does up to 2 fire buttons for kempston but uses all pins for md pads with pin 7 used as output driving the md pad.

Re: Design a small Sound card for Next

About the future implementation of ZXSpectrumNext's "expansion bus". Does that mean that disabling and enabling the "expansion bus connector" determines the initial setting (it is a machine profile or a config file of a system card?)? Below is a description of how the expansion bus is intended to w...

Re: Design a small Sound card for Next

Hmmm. I will search the literature for "/IORQULA". I was told that this is a function after "ZX Spectrum +2". This webpage is pretty good about documenting the various spectrum edge connectors: https://faqwiki.zxnet.co.uk/wiki/ZX_Spectrum_edge_connector That page shows a common subset of si...

Re: Design a small Sound card for Next

Also, I did not notice this time because the clock oscillator was mounted on the board, but is the signal coming to "CPU CLK 3.5"? Yes. The cpu clock is generated inside the fpga and is routed to the expansion bus from there. It's commonly labelled /clock (clock inverted) but it corresponds to wave...

Re: Do not work!/Re: Design a small Sound card for Next

Is there a problem with the module design, "address decoder circuit"? It looks like your interface responds to port 0xf5 and 0xf6. Do you actually need two ports? It looks like you only need one as both are being used as /cs for the ic. If this is intended to operate in cooperation with the timex w...

Re: Help needed connecting the Next board UART to a PC RS232 serial port

@AA, what development tools out there allow for direct interfacing with the Next via the UART? Are these “direct to memory writing” tools? If not, what methods would they interface with? Cheers. Yes they are direct to memory although not available in a form like a dot command which would make it mo...

Re: Connectors / Jumpers List

In the official WIKI's IO port map, the ports "I2C SCL" and "I2C SDA" are listed. Does this correspond to Pin8 and Pin13? Yes it's the same. i2c is also used to communicate with the rtc which sits on those lines. If the SPI communication port is available, we can connect "ATTiny etc's microcomputer...

Re: 60/50 or the 20% plus issue...

The machine itself doesn't run faster but a 60Hz machine does mean the ula interrupt occurs at 60Hz instead of 50Hz which is 20% more frequent. If the game relies on the interrupt to pace itself, it will run faster.
