What's NEXT?

Like the title says above this section is for general chat about anything else. (within reason)

There is nothing unofficial about this forum also. It's an official forum of the Next team. So is the official site www.specnext.com
Why should only this forum be an official source of information? It's not.

Remember, ZX Spectrum Next is a non-profit project from a very small team!

That's of course true, but why is exactly that attitude about the facebook group acceptable? I don't have a facebook account, half the time facebook tells me I need to log in before seeing the group, and half the answers here are "ask on facebook, people will answer there".

The answer is very clear: Facebook is used by most people, they use it all the time and it's easy to use. There is also chat there for real-time chat.

Yes, that's a great reason to split communication channels.

My point just is that this site *feels* like a second-class citizen when it comes to spec next news. That doesn't reduce it's officiality.

I suppose we should be happy that the site exists at all, instead of having to dig through Facebook for everything.

Keep in mind that not all of the people are happy to agree to facebook's terms and conditions so they don't even try to sign there. You can't force people to accept that terms just because is easier for a company to provide support over f/book.

Again, there is no company here. And nobody is forcing anybody. It's a fact that the vast majority of backers uses Facebook. Much, much more backers (and interested people) are in the Facebook group (6.385 members), than there are users on this forum (1059 users). And, it's easier for the backers to get a quick response not only from the team, but from fellow members. We even have a Twitter account with more followers than users on this forum (1096 followers).
