Ok, a bit of progress. I have managed to connect to the card by setting it up as its own network (e.g. not joining to my main wifi network) which is fine, as I have Internet Pass through configured.

The problem is it is read only, e.g. I can read from the card to my Mac, but not the other way around. Do you know any settings to enable my to write to the card (It appears as WEBDAV)

Sorry. I've no idea. I would need a WiFi card to check what macOS is about with those things.

Finally got the card working, here is my config if anyone needs it (W-04)

I then connected to a server in finder, and typed in the IP address

Subnet_Mask=(Your Subnet Here)
Default_Gateway=(Router Address Here)
Preferred_DNS_Server=(Router Address Here)

I think you need to paste in the VERSION, CID and MASTERCODE for your specific card as well - worth saving the initial config file before overwriting.

I have a Toshiba card and I'm able to both read and write to it while it's inserted into the Next. However I've not been able to make the SD card connect to my regular Wifi network, so I have to connect through the SD card's own wifi network for now. But it should be possible to get it running on regular networks, my problem is really that Toshiba's manual for the card is useless. :o

Edit: I see there was a page 2 :D
At least I can confirm the above posts with my own experience.
