ZX Printer

Does the ZX Spectrum Next support the (original) ZX Printer? (I still have one in working condition.)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ZX_Printer
- spec next edge connector - check
- specnext speccy rom /LPRINT, LLIST, COPY etc./ - check

I would say, it will work.

I think the ZX Printer is one of the casualties.

I don't know if the Next team was aware of this page:
https://faqwiki.zxnet.co.uk/wiki/ZXI_standard

but they did adopt port 0x3b for io which conflicts with the zx printer. As you can see from the above link you can modify the zx printer to make things work.

The American version of the printer, the TS2040 aka Alphacom 32, seems like it will work because they decode two bits instead of 1 for port decode. Although I'm not sure if it may conflict with something else. At some point there will need to be details published about how fully ports are decoded on the Next. Sinclair never imagined having more than a couple of things attached so they pretty much made a mess of things.
