Re: Virus alert on "System/Next v.1.1 RTM(released on 2019/10/1)" file? (2019/10/10)

It’s a false positive. This is my software, which a tile cutter for one of the demos. I’ve checked it, and it’s also been verified as safe by several other virus checkers.

Generally these virus checkers can be quite aggressive, and not particularly accurate when they’re operating in heuristic mode.

Re: Firmware 1.1 issue

Ok cool. Trust me nothing is broken. What would be more useful is the old ini file, as that will tell us what the working settings were.

Re: Firmware 1.1 issue

What used to be the tbblue folder has moved to the machines/next folder (to facilitate future alternate multicore cores cohabiting the SD card tidily). First thing to try is to copy your old config.ini into the new folder. If that doesn’t work, post your old config.ini contents here and we can advis...

Re: Some news

Funds have been released to SpecNext Ltd, and have funded the creation of the moulds, board manufacture, keyboard development, testing rounds, and all ongoing services of the third-party tech partners, who were all working at normal commercial terms - cash up front, or 30 days credit, or whatever ea...

Re: DAAD Adventure Writer and ZX Next

The way I did it in my tools was just to replace 0xE3 with 0xE7 (which is what the ULA magenta gets redefined as). Then 0xE3 is always available for transparency. Crude but you really can’t tell 99.99% of the time.

Re: DAAD Adventure Writer and ZX Next

Yes, that's a very good point. ZEsarux will use the host file system if you use some options: tbblue-fast-boot-mode, enable-esxdos-handler, esxdos-root-dir. But you can only use a few file types for the launch program - SNA, TAP, maybe a couple more. Here's a full example: zesarux.exe --noconfigfile...

Re: DAAD Adventure Writer and ZX Next

Sounds good. Another thing to double-check regarding loading pixel data: after the rst 0x08 call, test carry, and if set, a contains the error code. Sometimes people skip the this check, but it's good to always do it, and freeze with a red border if there are any errors, or something similar. Someti...

Re: DAAD Adventure Writer and ZX Next

I think Ped has covered it. The clip window is definitely wrong, and his correction should fix that. Check to see if the first palette entry is dark green. If so, then it's likely you're writing the same value to all 256 entries. You can test this by temporarily commenting out the palette setting co...

Re: DAAD Adventure Writer and ZX Next

Welcome Uto! All of those things should be compatible with old core versions. You can read the core version through nextreg 0x01 and 0x0E, and offer a suitable upgrade message for older cores. If you don't want to test your code with every old core version, I suggest 2.00.00 would be a sensible cuto...

Re: Is it possible to create a "Next" in a ZX-UNO like board?

The ZX-DOS is the successor to the ZX-UNO. It has the same FPGA chip as the Next, and the same size and case as the UNO. Antonio even sells it for cheaper than he sells the UNO, I think. It’s completely possible to synthesize the Next core for the DOS. This has not been a priority for anyone on the ...
