New version of Magnetic Scrolls games
A new version of the Magnetic Scrolls games have been released. In this version, the font has been better adapted for the Timex hi-res mode and is now easier to read and kinder to your eyes. Have a look and see :) The location image transitions have also been made smoother. If you have played the ga...

Re: New version of the remastered Magnetic Scrolls games
Cool, did you ever reproduce the SP bug? No, unfortunately I haven't been able to reproduce it. Have you encountered it anymore? The warning message comes from the Motorola 68000 game code. The 68K interpreter keeps a stack area for the game code and there is a routine in the game code that tries t...

New version of the remastered Magnetic Scrolls games
Version 1.1.0 of The Pawn , The Guild of Thieves and Jinxter have been released. This version dramatically reduces the loading time of the game story file. Previously, it took about 7 seconds to load a game from an SD card, now it loads in half a second. So if you have previously downloaded the rema...

Re: Magnetic Scrolls masterpieces remastered for the Spectrum Next
I will try to talk to Honest John and see if I can reproduce the problem
Yeah, there are two quite far-fetched inputs in the pawn. The "tie hoe to rake using shirt" thing is one of them and the other is how to put the damn plant in the pot which is even weirder

dave18: I just connected the dots and realized that you're the author of the Bubble Bobble conversion for the Spectrum Next. I've been away on a trip so I haven't had the time to try it yet but it looks absolutely amazing!

Re: Magnetic Scrolls masterpieces remastered for the Spectrum Next
Hi, I've being playing The Pawn so a bit (and progressing slowly!). However I've started to get what I assume is an error message saying "waaaa - unhealthy sp!!!!!". I assume it means the stack pointer is potentially out of whack?? Having said that it isn't seeming to crash the game or anything, is...

Re: Magnetic Scrolls masterpieces remastered for the Spectrum Next
Fantastic. I never played any of these the first time around, is there a recommended order? Thanks Dave The games are independent of each other and can be played in any order. The only connection is that The Pawn and The Guild of Thieves take place in the same world, Kerovnia. If you want to play t...

Re: Magnetic Scrolls masterpieces remastered for the Spectrum Next
The Next is fast enough to load layer 2 graphics on demand from the SD, and even do full motion video (a FMV demo using the streaming API has been done a few years ago). I’m not sure if Stefan is doing that here, but it’s certainly a possible technique when people start running out of RAM. The laye...

Re: Magnetic Scrolls masterpieces remastered for the Spectrum Next
Great news! I've been looking forward to this for some time. Indeed, I bought Jinxter in 1989 for the Amstrad PC1512, but as it only had 512K it didn't show any graphics. With regard to Wonderland, on that same PC1512, the memory was eaten up very quickly, even when not displaying graphics and the ...
