Re: Simple DMA example

KevB - you have a Sega Multi-Mega? Gawd, I wanted one of those as a youngster! Does yours still work?

Re: First Demo from My New Programming Language, Elena

After trying out Gimp, I'm thinking of writing a cmd-line tool to convert a standard bitmap into a palette bmp file. Either that or a nice little java app with bells and whistles...

NextPaint looks the bees-kness. ^_^

Re: First Demo from My New Programming Language, Elena

Ah, I'm using SGDK which employs C. I doubt I will make a full game with it but to make even a small joypad input demo that actually ran on an emulator was like...Paul Atreides sand-surfing on that big worm thing in Dune! THAT awesome! Sigh, I'm so easily impressed....

Re: First Demo from My New Programming Language, Elena

Glad to see this is going ahead. Kevin, I've noticed your description of the Next's colour palette matches that of the Sega megadrive, for which I'm currently programming for. Sadly I'm at a loss as how to generate suitable bitmaps with the correct palette data. Would you mind giving me some directi...

Re: First steps into Z88DK...and many more to come!

Well, the effort is certainly appreciated, Alvin - to all who have worked on the project over the years. I for one would never have got this far with retro development without z88dk. On the game development forums the answer was always "you need to be real good at Assembly" and that using C wasn't a...

Re: Hello From Swansea

Alan, I do remember playing a text game called "Blizzard" when I was a young nipper and although was rubbish at it, I really liked the setting. It must have been your game!

Welcome to the forum. ^_^

Re: First steps into Z88DK...and many more to come!

I think I have got an acceptable working solution now, Alvin. CodeBlocks, as far as compiling Z88DK goes, is a dead end for the time being. That said, I think its still useful in that I can use it to write the programs and take advantage of syntax highlighting and file management. Then, when I need ...

Re: First steps into Z88DK...and many more to come!

I've figured out what I was doing wrong with the make file. Basically, on my linux machine, I set up a "make.sh" file and got so used to that standing in for a make file that I was applying that logic to a real make file(on my windows 10 machine)...I can't believe I overlooked that! Okay, I can now ...
