Re: How to detect that DMA transfer is finished

Does this also mean that in burst mode the cpu is slowed down by the dma?

How to detect that DMA transfer is finished

Hi,

I could not find this in the docs or the example program:
Let's say I transfer a block of RAM to the HW sprites port via DMA.
How do I know that the DMA has finished and is ready to be used for other tasks?

Re: HW Sprites and how to use them

Thanks very much for this valuable and elaborated input.
In the end it seems to drill down to bit fiddling and optimization depending on the available registers.

I must admit that I was silently hoping that there is some kind of HW support available that I've overlooked.

HW Sprites and how to use them

Hi, I'm currently looking into the problem to efficiently use the HW sprites from SW i.e. from Assembler. But I ran into a few problems and I would like to hear your ideas or solutions. The problem is simply put: How to deal with the sprite's position efficiently. When working with sprites the usual...

Games & SD Card

Hi, I don't got any ZX Next HW yet, so maybe this question is a little dumb. Please forgive. There are some games out (like Dungeonette) and physically sold. I guess those come on an SD card. How is the SD Card handling if such a game is started? The ZX Next has one SD Card slot as far as I can see....

Re: Bank switch to Next OS

Thanks for the info but I still haven't been able to switch to the original 48k ROM. Could you maybe tell me exactly what bits I have to set in 0x7FFD and 0x1FFD. My situation is that I start a sna file from the browser. Then when my program got control I disable the interrupts, setup a stack and th...

Re: Bank switch to Next OS

- Ahh, I see. My writing of 0xFF to mmu0 and mmu1 may not have worked because I need to disable writing in port 0x123B first.
- To switch to esxdos/ROM3: what do I have to do? Is it writing 0x04 to port 0x1FFD and 0x10 to port 0x7FFD?

Bank switch to Next OS

Hi, I have a problem with the bank switching. I would like to use some Next OS/esxdos function (load/save) then switch in the original Spectrum ROM and later when I need load/save again then switch back to Next OS. However I can't find a way to do this. So what register do I have to fill to switch t...
