Re: Currah uSpeech

Here is some technical background: The Currah has a 2k ROM which originates at address 0000h. It is toggled with the original 48k ROM on every opcode fetch of address 0038h. So it is executed with each interrupt, when the Currah code has finished it itselfs jumps to address 0048h so that the origina...

Currah uSpeech

Hi,
Are there any plans to implement the currah uSpeech in FPGA in some point in time?

The problem with the currah real HW is that it would not work any more with a modern TV, so it would be great if the Next would include it right away.

DB9/Joystick

Hi, will the Next support a secondary joystick button? So far I could read only that DB9 is supported according to Atari spec. But what does Atari spec mean: Originally there was only one button support but as far as I remember the ST and some other Atari model supported up to 3 buttons. How many bu...

Re: Sprite questions

Thanks very much for the comprehensive answer. The idea with the high priority sprite at the border is very good, especially if used with horizontal interrupts. That should do for my game port. I really like the Next and I think you are doing a great job. Unfortunately I missed the kickstarter, but ...

Re: Sprite questions

Hello, thanks for the info. I actually have problems finding the right information on the web page, so I do not know exactly what "layer 2" means. I guess there are the more comprehensive graphics modes defined. Is it a fixed decision to not allow for programmable borders for sprite clipping? As the...

Re: Sprite questions

So that means the sprite border is/will be programmable, That would be really great. E.g. the current right side border is 287. I would like to change that to e.g. 200. Then a sprite at position 192 would be shown only half size, right? I.e. the left part of the sprite is out-of-border, invisible. W...

Re: Sprite questions

I would like to display a panel (score, number of ships etc.) on the right side of the screen.
On the left side there should be sprites but the sprites should not move over the panel of course.
So, can I set the extend of the border programmatically?

Sprite questions

Hello, I have now found the explanation about sprites at https://www.specnext.com/sprites/. Is there more documentation available? A few questions do remain: collision detection: there is a collision flag returned. How to know with which sprite the collision was? Is collision detection also possible...
