Re: Music Creation on the Next

I have actually two questions about the Spectrum Next : - The doc indicates there are 9 channels and three noise generators. So, it is the exact same as if you had three AYs, right? Each of them has one noise generator, and they won't conflict with each other. Or does it mean that you can play thre...

Re: Help needed connecting the Next board UART to a PC RS232 serial port

I got one of the usb to TTL ( keep wanting to put TLL - Tornado Low Level ) to program the UART ( which we don't need anymore ) and that had both 3.3V and 5V output ( http://www.miupanel.com/portals/0/Website%20graphics/esp01_program.png?t ). It makes me wonder if the MAX3232 has both voltage output...

Re: Help needed connecting the Next board UART to a PC RS232 serial port

I would not try it. Some interesting reading - I'm just a programmer not an electronics expert https://www.sparkfun.com/tutorials/215 Edit : Just noticed you are using the RS232 serial port to TTL and not straight RS232 voltage so I guess it would be right ( famous last words ) as long as it does n...

Re: Jupiter Ace (and also ZX80/ZX81)

https://www.victortrucco.com/Multicore/Multicore There are currently 43 cores (cores) synthesized and ready for use in Multicores: Click the kernel for more information and bitstream files . I think you will have to wait for a new build ( can't see when they were last built as i cannot access gitla...

Re: Jupiter Ace (and also ZX80/ZX81)

Surely the distribution we have is for a ZX Spectrum. So the TBLUE firmware is for the Speccy as it is this which configures the ins and outs for the machine. Changing the rom will not make a Speccy into an ACE . I think you need a different firmware.

Re: Musical potential of the NEXT.

The 4 bit DAC is logarithmic so you would need specially prepared 4 bit samples. I think the scan line interrupt only occurs where the screen gets drawn so you can't use value of 192 ( would like to be proved ) so that would rule out changing the pitch etc ( digi drums ) every N scan lines
