Re: File Loading Question Using Z88DK

I will soon update the zxnext_layer2 and zxnext_sprite libraries and remove the header file zxnext_registers.h and its usage in favor of Z88DK's register definitions. This should make them compatible with the z88dk-lib tool. I haven't done anything on the zxnext_layer2 and zxnext_sprite libraries fo...

Re: The Pawn Demo

If it is my own C code, I can in general get by with printf and border colour debugging but if working with a third party code base that you don't understand every detail of, not having a source code debugger is a pain. When I'm writing code that is non-trivial (algorithms or string manipulations), ...

Re: The Pawn Demo

This weekend I started to look at porting the Magnetic interpreter in emu.c to Spectrum Next by adding support for handling the code, strings and dictionary sections in the .mag story file in a bank-switched manner. I quickly realized that the debugging experience when doing this directly for the Sp...

Re: Next MMU paging

SevenFFF, I have also been bitten by the ESXDOS / layer 2 incompatibility when loading layer 2 data via ESXDOS and writing it to the layer 2 memory paged-in as write-only at the bottom 16 KB. This works fine in CSpect and ZEsarUX (with esxdos handler) but not on the real hardware. When loading layer...

Re: The Pawn Demo

I will take a look at the Magnetic interpreter and see how much work it would be to port it to z88dk and Spectrum Next. Hugh, do you have any experience of porting Magnetic to memory-banked devices? My hope is that the actual interpreter (possibly with some parts removed) will fit in the main 64 KB ...
