I (unfortunately) don't own a ZX Next (...yet?) but, if ZesarUX emulator already emulate these, we could use it for development.
I find this project very exciting!! ;)
Currently I'm working on alternative memory schemes for ZX Basic, so it can work beyond 48k in these machines (ZX Next, ZX Uno, clones, etc...)

At the moment people use inline asm for bank switching, but I'm trying to provide a high level mechanism, or even to make it completely transparent for the user so s/he does not have to worry about managing memory her/himself
