Reading Keyboard ports on Next?

Postby RetroCoderTV » Sat Oct 03, 2020 3:12 pm

Hi all. I am just starting to learn Next development in assembly. I have drawn and moved some sprites, but my existing 48k keyboard code seems to not work.

How would I find some info about what ports to read from or how otherwise I can read keyboard and/or joystick inputs from the user?

thanks

Reading the keyboard via the ports is just like the original speccys. The ports and bits returned are in the manual. Page 264 has a list of the ports and for the joysticks page 273 explains what each bit is.

Thanks. It was my mistake. I imported my old code, but failed to make a 'call checkkeys' instruction in my Next program. Hence the keys did not work. I jumped the gun and instantly assumed it must be different ports
