SOLVED

It's either a bug in the .sync dot command or omission in the instructions.

If I manually create the C:/SYS/CONFIG directory everything works as it should.

Create the file by hand. There's a bug I've already fixed that fails to create the directories if they don't exist.
Sorry sol_hsa, I missed your reply! I just woke up this morning and it came to mind. Thank you for your work by the way, it is pretty cool.

Hi sol_hsa. I'm trying to build NextSync from the source on github but it looks like the referenced file gfx.c is missing. Any chance you could upload it to your github please. Amazing tool by the way, game changer for me :-)

Added. Note that the github version might be a in-between version which may not exactly work. I was working on compressing the data before transmission which does actually work, but makes things slower because the decompression takes too long on the next.

Thank you very much :-) It did kinda feel that way looking at the code! Glad to hear it wasn't just me :-) No worries, I'll try to figure it out :-)

NextSync 1.0 released

http://iki.fi/sol/zip/nextsync10.zip

Notable changes:
- UART communication code rewritten to follow current recommendations,
should help with some mistransmissions
- Should no longer require manual creation of config file
- Disable cpu speed and 50/60 mode hotkeys to avoid user errors
- Trimmed some timeouts
- Added failure paths for losing connection and failing handshake, so
NextSync should now (eventually) quit when server disappears
- General source code cleanup

1) If the folder /sys/config doesn´t exist .sync seems to write config-file and prints
Setting server to:
192.168.1.58
-> C:/sys/config/nextsync.cfg
Failed to open file

-> I´ve created /sys/config folder manually and than this error "Failed to open file" was gone.

Update: See at FB, that this error was reported 2 days ago and you respond on it there:
Jari Komppa: Weird. Nextsync should be able to create the directory, but I guess it doesn't work always then.
Ah right, that's one thing I did not re-check. Well, I've mentioned it in the docs, and the workaround is pretty simple (even if it's awkward)

2) Maybe a check if SpecNexts Network Interface "is configured and up" can be done. Because I run nextsync by accident on a Next without WIFI builtin (or WIFI not configured yet) and wondered why I couldn´t reach the sync-server
I don't actually know how to do that. But, it mentions that it can't talk to esp, and docs have troubleshooting section which asks if you have the wifi module at all..
On the real machine, I tried to give .mkdir config as suggested and didn't work...
I re-tried giving .mkdir CONFIG and the configuration file was correctly created.
I'm using .syncslow and seems to work well.
Well done Jari

Dear Jari,

do you see a chance way for .NextSync to get e.g. a NextBasic-File (as .bas or .txt) loaded from a webserver?

Cheers,

Luzie

Hi good afternoon.
the nextsync10 works.
is still very insecure in the transmission.
the transmission often breaks off.

it still needs to be revised.

for playing but not for a serious broadcast.
