Primarily it permits the use of USB controllers but there is a lot of potential for using the Pi as an accelerator of sorts. Why would you need it when you have a 28MHz Spectrum? We'll have to see what people come up with. Hopefully some demonstrations will appear prior to the delivery of the boards so we will get a flavour of what could be achieved.
