People sell their boards on eBay fairly regularly. The price is quite variable, especially if two people escalate into a bidding way. Nevertheless, I have several friends who managed to get set up with a Next within a week or two of deciding to get one.

Of course you may choose to wait for a cased Next, but realistically you’ll be waiting much longer. My view has always been that the exciting parts of the Next reside in its function rather than its form. Rick’s design notwithstanding :)

You're wrong :)

I mean, personally I want a Spectrum to have a Spectrum keyboard. I don't like emulators for the same reason. My Next board is now in a retroradionics case, but it turns out that while I want a Spectrum keyboard and while I had a rubber keyboard Spectrum back then, I want a better keyboard now. That means waiting for the cased Next is the only real option...

Ha! Depends how you define better. Give me the cherry mechanical ps/2 keyboard I use on my Next board, any day :D
