Grew up in the UK but never had an 8-bit machine as my parents weren't convinced such an expensive item was suitable for kids, lol!
They finally caved and got me an Atari ST when I was a little older but I do feel I missed out on the earliest days, beyond using the solitary BBC at school of course...
I have an 80s and 90s collection of computers now but UK stuff is a bit tricky to deal with given most old CRT monitors/tvs here only support NTSC plus the voltage difference and frankly the shipping costs...
So looking forward to getting my fix of the Spectrum via modern technology (August for my batch I think?) so I can fly the flag here for us Brits!

Where you located? (I'm in Dallas) My first computer was a TS1000 (zx81) and I got recently my fix by loading up on the old stuff I could never afford when new.. TS1500, TS2068, Speccy 48k, Speccy+, QL, and a couople Microdrives along with being "in the queue" for KS2
