Set to kempston1...works on cursor but I prefer kempston. Which it doesn't appear to work on...checked autoexec and file is in right place per the original working install.

Mine didn't work after the update either. It was due to the NextOS folder being renamed to NextZXOS.

To fix you need to edit the autoexec.bat file to point to the correct folder.

Ah ok thanks I'll try that.

Ok..it's a .bas file...how do I edit it? when I opened it up in notebook it has some special characters in there...I changed the path and resaved but it still didn't work...I assumed you can't edit it in that way?

Also the new distro has a autoexec file already...again how would I edit that to add the joynav part, thanks.

.bas files are tokenised so it’s best to edit them in basic. Generally you would do LOAD “c:/foo.bas” (or MERGE “c:/foo.bas” if was an autorun file), edit in basic, then “SAVE “c:/foo.bas”.

Autoexec’s are a special case though. They load and run automatically when you boot into NextZXOS or do an F4 reset. You can stop them autorunning by holding down BREAK (Escape), but they still load.

Either way, just go into basic, then edit and save. I like to put this at the end of mine:

Code: Select all

9998 GOTO 10000
9999 SAVE “c:/NextZXOS/autoexec.bas” LINE 1
Line 9998 means it terminates without an error, skipping the save. Every time I change it I do GOTO 9999 to save typing the save command every time.

If you want it to autorun it should be:

9999 SAVE "c:/NextZXOS/AUTOEXEC.BAS" LINE 1

Thanks for this, did it this weekend and up and running with it again.
