ZESARUX: NEXT EMULATOR

Postby HeX » Mon Jun 05, 2017 7:14 pm

The ZESARUX: NEXT EMULATOR featured on the main page is a really nice wee emulator. Followed the tutorial got it loaded up, it started in 48k mode but was pretty intuitive to switch to 128 tho. Had some error loading the sprite thing, however ended up as a spyhunter session which is a lush way to close out a Monday evening =). :D

Pretty sure you all have a ton of speccy emulators as I do but as it goes this is up there with the best of them IMHO. Well worth a pop.
Spell of ZX roguelike, You cant unthink it now....

Yes, ZEsarUX seems to be a really nice emulator!

It would be great if the author provided a prebuilt snapshot of the latest version that supports the current sprite specification.

I will, when I had Layer2 specs.
Anyway, you can try to compile it by yourself, it's easy ;)

Cheers

Would it be possible to add RPI0 emulation within ZEsarUX?

If people start using the RPI0 on the Next it'd be great to be able to emulate/debug/develop on the PC

Same answer ;) When I had the specs.
Anyway, I think rpi0 on the Next has no defined purpose yet. It was at first used to handle hardware sprites but this was moved from the rpi to the fpga.

I hear Lyndon Sharp is writing a tracker for the Next?
Hoping it will support all 3 AY's and the SID.

Was wondering if this would be available to use on this emulator when it's released?

Also, waiting for SID support in ZEsarUX.

Be good to hear some of your tunes Frank on the enhanced platform, perhaps you could maybe put one aside for one of my future projects? :D

Sure thing. I get a warm fuzzy feeling when I see my name on the credits for Sewer Rage, Willy The Wasp :D .

I missed the Kickstarter, was away from internet for a while and missed the email from the specnext site saying the kickstarter had started, so I'm preying that I can still get a machine after January.

All I have is a 5 year old laptop, with rubbish onboard Realtek sound at the moment.

If not, I'll have to work with ZEsarUX emulator. It doesn't run very well on this laptop though...

I have several WIP's of Turbo Sound (2xAY) experiments. And unfinished War Of The Worlds cover album. I haven't released anything for a long time. Been brainstorming ideas for new original music, and getting used to using Vortex Tracker for writing 2xAY. I was experimenting with POKEY sound chip and SID as well. So most of my time was learning Goattracker, messing around with SID filters, looking for new sounds.

Yeah I reneged on the initial kickstarter hoping more will become available come January, if not I'll probably have to buy one off ebay at a puffed up price.

I too am having trouble with the ZEsarUX emulator and the sprite editors Tommy Gun and UDGee, they dont like my Windows 8.1 laptop for some reason.

I look forward to hearing your work on the new system.

PS. Would you be able to create a bagpipe sounding tune with the SID/2 AY set up?
