Thanks guys!
I spent a couple of hours yesterday and today reading through the FAQs and ZX Uno Forum. I also came across the ZX GO+ http://www.ngpaws.com/zxunogoplusfaq.html I spoke to Manu who is running the project and put in an order for the ZX GO+ and a new case from Retro Radionics. Really looking forward to it and hope it gets here before the Next board!

Thanks for all your help. The ZX Uno is a really great project.

EDIT: More information.

Managed to finally get mine (rainbow box X-Uno 4.2 - thanks Antonio!) set up on the TV via Scart. It didn't work on my HP LP2475 monitor via VGA to DVI adapter - kept saying input settings out of range change resolution - a bit annoying but I'm sure I'll find a solution/new old monitor. Powered on, 48k mode worked fine. I don't have any SD cards at the moment to actually do anything. It did however bring back great memories of sitting on the carpet in front of the TV trying to remember the commands on the keys from 35 years ago :) Can't wait to play with it fully when I find an SD card. Change the borders, wrote a few lines of "hello world" program all fun - just need some stickers for the keyboard now.
This will be a great intro/reminder for when I get the Next board - then the Uno gets moved to work for lunchtime programming/showing the people not born in '82 when it came out what it was like.

Did you switch from RGB to VGA?

If you press ESC key when the ZX-UNO logo appears at boot, you will presented with a ROM menu from which you can start the Spectrum with a different ROM. Hopefully, Antonio will have included some games in ROM format for you.

For stickers, contact Jordi Bayó on Facebook. He is one of the team members too.

Cheers! Just powered it up and hadn't even read the FAQ at that point. I'll try this over the weekend. :)

EDIT: Yes, some games in ROM I found thank you!

Then, you will be surprised to see what happens if you press CAPS LOCK instead of ESC during initial bootup ;)

Just a quick update for anyone who's interested. Got the ZX GO+ last week and it's really impressive. Impeccably packed with everything getting to me without a hitch. I also ordered a TZXDuino from Manu (as seen in the video up there!) I basically went all in with the extras so it was a bit pricy but really worth it!

http://uto.speccy.org/zxunofaq_en.html is the updated FAQ. Only problem I had was getting hold of the correct ESXDos files for the SDCard. Took me a while to find. If Uto reads this, maybe he can link the correct files from the FAQ?

I'm afraid I cannot, as ESXDOS files required depend on ESXDOS version flashed so I cannot link a single set of files. I could link one zip file per version, but then you'll need to know which version got flashed in your device so you have to ask the seller anyway, that is what I suggest in the FAQ.

ESXDOS version is shown in the boot screen, but only oficial version (i.e. 0.8.5). Latest versions include a fourth value, beta version, not shown in boot screen, and files for ESXDOS 0.8.x Beta N doesnt work with 0.8.x Beta M

I have a ZX Go+ myself too, in fact zx go+ exist cause some zx-uno owners wanted to have a zx-uno able to fit into a rubber 48k keyboard, so we made a list of interested people and found a maker wanting to create them. None in the zx-uno team got involved but as project is open hardware there was no need.

I asume something similar will happen when Next board gerbers and BOM are published, modified or unmodified versions may become avaliable, with same form factor or different. Just imagine a Next board with +2/+3 form factor , or made to live inside a C64 breadbin case ;-)

Just got myself a ZX Uno as an interim board but cannot seem to get the ZX Spectrum Next core running properly.

When it boots, all I get is this:
