UART WIFI TERMINAL

Post by jayteebee » Tue Jul 03, 2018 12:44 pm

Hello All,

I was wondering if some very clever programming chap/chapess would be writing a terminal / ftp or other means of connecting to the world..

Does anyone know if someone has set up a ZX Spectrum Next BBS on an old computer or server that we could potentially connect to?

That would be really amazing!!

Thanks

JTB

Hello

My idea is to make a serial terminal and then use it to access a BBS that I intend to write myself.
The people here have already given a lot of help.

This is a repository with a few more drafts, I'm writing the server in Go:

Nothing works yet, everything is in the field of ideas. So I avoid speaking here to not generate expectation, after all we never have the time to dedicate ourselves.

Simone from the ZX Preservation Project runs a Retro BBS which is one of the examples used in the .UART command README. It just needs the ANSI terminal finishing to be really usable - which is being worked on!

Info about the sinclair retro BBS which has a limited number of connections
(10 I think) run by Simone from Sinclair Software Preservation can be found at:

http://telnetbbsguide.com/bbs/sinclair-retro-bbs/

The CIPSTART connect you actually need to use it on a Next is:

AT+CIPSTART="TCP","retrobbs.sinclair.homepc.it",23

Port 23 is Telnet for those in the know.

You can make a connection to this and it will stop with a prompt asking
you for a graphics mode buried among the control codes - and then kick you off
when you answer ASCII as ANSI is not supported.

A priority is to make the ANSI support good enough for us to login to this
server - watch the forum and fb for updates.

There are others around as well like http://www.mono.org/ many are
listed on the telnetbbsguide.

I really liked the BBS!

It will be great when .UART has some ANSI support ... any chance of getting 80 columns?

Hi!

My version of the terminal client.
temporarily for tsconf version with connection via rs232.
Now I expect the arrival of the order esp module. Then the terminal can be adapted for zxnext.
Now I don’t start debugging because there is no hardware device.
